Our methods are qualitative and grounded in real community engagement - interviews, surveys, observational research and benchmarking. We find out what's shaping experiences on your campus, and how to improve them.
Your next project will be judged by the people using the space. Shouldn't they shape it?

Evaluate your campus experience
Globally we run the Campus Experience Index, a student-completed evaluation of how well campus facilities support their learning, study and social experience. Your campus is benchmarked against a growing local and global database of institutions.

Benchmark your university
We undertake projects to help you understand what other universities are doing, and how you compare
Learn moreHow we approach this
- You tell us what you need and we design an approach to give you robust information. We don't just read glossy case studies but benchmark based on data available, interviews with universities and site visits
- Some recent benchmarking projects include Academic workplace design approaches, All Gender Toilet progress, campus amenity, global trends on neurodiversity and campus adjustments and informal/social study space designs
What we deliver
We'll work with you to design the project, timeline and scope and then deliver you a report and recommendations.

Staff campus experience and workplace change support
The way that academic and professional staff work is shifting globally. We support teams in workplace projects and staff campus experience.
Learn moreStaff campus and workplace evaluations
The way that staff spend time at university campuses has seen a prolific shift since the pandemic. Whilst these changes were slowly emerging, flexible working has accelerated the need to re-assess what the “future workplace” looks like for higher education. Institutions we work with are seeking to optimise their estate, but also understand what they should be prioritising in campus design for the attraction, recruitment and comfort of staff.
We understand the deep connection staff have to traditional office environments, and through working with multiple institutions the sensitivity around such projects.
What we provide
- Change management partner bringing specific academic expertise and tailored engagement with staff to keep projects moving
- Interrogations of how staff work now to inform design briefs
- Whole of campus staff experience evaluations, gathering staff feedback to workplace, teaching space, research facilities, social and eating amenity, belonging, wayfinding and arrival exeperience
- Customised workplace surveys for professional and academic staff
- Benchmarking exercises
How we approach this
- After an initial consultation on what you are trying to achieve, we will design the approach
- Depending on the scope of this project, this typically involves surveys, site visits, interviews and other journey mapping tools
What we deliver
- A report with detailed recommendations and strategic considerations
- The findings can be used to support projects and business cases

We'll take your burning question and engage the right people (in the right way) to get you data
How we approach this
- We connect with students and staff directly to explore themes like 'why are gym memberships dropping?', 'what student accomodation options are best?', 'why are students dropping out in their first year?' and 'online or on-campus experience - which is better'?
What we deliver
We code and theme findings into a visual report that summarises the experience of users to help support your decision-making

Project and service evaluation
Bring real experience into planning, get support through projects, and learn from what is delivered
Learn moreWhether you're designing a space, launching a policy, or changing a service, we involve your community early and revisit their experience once it's live. We help you build better outcomes and avoid repeating the same mistakes. Some examples include:
- Design, development and deployment of a student accommodation survey engaging thousands of students to co-create improvements
- Pre and post-occupancy surveys of major new buildings to inform design and measure impact
- 'What's not working' reviews of problematic areas across services and buildings
